Why we exist

"We built AVA because no traveller should have to spend three hours on six different sites just to find out which flight is the least damaging to the planet."

In 2022, our founding team found themselves frustrated — not with travel itself, but with the friction layered on top of it. Price comparison sites buried eco data. Airlines made offsets a post-checkout afterthought. Booking trains across borders required visiting six separate websites.

VST started as a side project to fix that. Two years later, it's a platform used by over 200,000 travellers across 47 countries — and we're just getting started.

Meet AVA

AVA — the AI at the heart of VST — was trained on over 2 million real trip itineraries and connects in real time to 47 travel providers. It understands context: "somewhere warm but not too touristy, under two hours flying" is a perfectly valid search query.

More importantly, AVA gives every option a transparent eco score based on actual emissions data — not marketing claims. If a train is significantly cleaner than the flight, AVA says so, clearly, and makes it just as easy to book.

Every flight, hotel, and experience on VST carries a score from 0–100 based on verified emissions data, offset quality, and operator sustainability practices. We partner only with offset providers audited to Gold Standard or VCS certification.

We also surface low-carbon alternatives — trains, ferries, electric transfers — whenever they're genuinely competitive on time and price. We don't hide these options behind a "green tab." They're front and centre, always.

We offset 100% of the carbon footprint of VST's own operations. We're working toward a model where every booking on the platform is net-zero by 2027.

Privacy as respect

Your travel data is yours. We don't sell it, we don't profile you for third-party advertising, and we don't store more than we need to deliver the service.
